Where was I, yes, the yarn store. We'd been planning it for a while. And let me tell you, I was NOT disappointed. Not only was it packed with gorgeous yarn, but they have a DOG. The sweetest dog. And she has a tattoo in her ear that shows she's from the same animal shelter as my Minnow! Kindred rescue friends!
I found what I hope will be a suitable "eggplanty-magenta" yarn colour for my friend Amber's toque-to-be.
I also found a skein of yarn that I haven't been able to take my eyes off since I bought it:
I had it on my desk behind me at work and I'd turn around, look at it, and stroke it lovingly between tasks or when I was on the phone with a steamship line...
I'm going to knit this yarn. Let it be known. I'm going to knit myself a scarf. Hold me to it.
I have a hard time saying no to yarn, though I did remarkably well this afternoon. One purchase, the toque yarn, was planned. The second was a belated birthday treat with some leftover gift money from my parents.
I collect yarn.
And I collect patterns. It'll take me a lifetime to get through them all, but at least it won't be an idle lifetime!

You're a yarn hoarder. You rescue yarn. The signs are all clear.
I'm glad you got 'eggplanty-magenta' instead of 'brink'
And just to clarify brink was originally supposed to be bright purple, then I thought pink would be a better choice, and of course I never read over my emails before sending, as I enjoy reading them over MUCH later to note my glaring spelling mistakes.
Chelle - I rescue yarn and give it a good home. Sure, it may sit for years before it ever turns into anything and realizes its life purpose...
Amber - "Brink" is the best word I've heard all week. Even better than the "calca-late" and "Valentimes" that my co-worker said, among others.
I just bought a large skein of yarn today...red...to make something for valentines. I am going to crochet. I love your collection of yarns!!!
Oooh, I should do some Valentine-y crocheting! Good idea.
I think I see you more often than I see my local friends as well... and I'm very proud of us, too, for our amazing self restraint in the lovely yarn store...
By the way, if you need to send me a present at any time, feel free to get some of that sale yarn I was showing you (I think it was part silk and felt like a dream...) I'm just saying is all...
I wish to make you a present at some point. I do not know what it will be, but it will be in leiu of a birthday present... JSYK... (that's flight attendant speak for 'Just So You Know' and it's totally something you don't say if you want people to like you!)
Amanda
If anything it is I who should be making YOU a gift, seeing as you've already gifted me with some of your knittery this year.
We will visit that lovely yarn store again, especially since it is now #2 on your all-time list!
