Five of... Squares?

My first ever bit of embroidery! Nothing fancy, nothing challenging in the grand scheme of things. Just a simple outline of my dad's favourite fishing lure.

I'm happy. This tea towel is presently hanging on our oven door, waiting to be gifted. My parents will like it, just like they've always liked everything else I've made in my 27 years. :) It's what parents do.

Today has been a busy day. I've baked cookies and a cake (hold your applause, it wasn't from scratch). I'm currently in the middle of making supper - sweet soy glazed chicken and onions. Never made it before. We shall see!

Delicious!

I've acquired a taste for embroidery, though. I hope to produce nicer, more challenging, more "pretty" creations in the future on my other tea towels. Though maybe I'll take Michelle up on her suggestion to embroider a fender bender...

But maybe not...

1. Maybe NOT? When you are done the fender bender embroidery, I'd like to request you embroider a fainting goat- in fainting position, on a table cloth. Right in the middle.

It's what I would do if I embroidered.

WV- drogen. Loke ovor thore, thore's a drogen. A fore brothong drogen. Holy Shot.

Best ever chocolate chip recipe (save for the olive oil chocolate chip cookies, also found on this blog):

Except, instead of all the rocky road fixings (marshmallows, nuts), I just add 1 to 1-and-a-bit of chocolate chips and bob's your uncle.

Delish.

Oh yes, I forgot to compliment you on the embroidery because it is super cute!

I'll spare you from the word verification this time.

He liked it. "Alright, my favourite lure!"

If you saw the mish-mash of fish and fishing related things that decorate our cottage you'd see how this would fit right in.

My parents have a little frame above the door to each bedroom, one that says "Cranks" and shows 2 crank baits, one that says "Flies" and shows 4 fishing flies, and one that says "Lures" and shows three different lures on it. And thus, each room is named for its little framed picture. "You're staying in Cranks tonight."

One of these years for Christmas I will give my mom a couple sets of embroidered towels for each room (I likely won't do this myself, as who wants to hand-embroider a towel?). But I thought it'd be neat to customize the pillow cases or something similar with the images on the little framed pictures she has for each room.

Thanks for the compliments. It truly isn't good quality embroidery, but it was fun, and I think it's cute, and hey, it was my first thing ever, so I'm thrilled with it, square diamonds or not! ;)

Hand crafted gifts are always the best kind

My mom’s house still has some of my nowhere-near-Picasso-Van-Gogh-Michelangelo-artwork I did in my younger years displaying in her house or does she bring it out only when I announce I’ll be visiting, hmmm... nah, that can't be

My stomach is rumbling & wants cookies

I’ll settle for a pack of Maltesers beside me for now
